I am searching for my great-great grandfather Anson A. CAREY. I am working back from Iowa where he died on May 23, 1893. The records I have found indicate that he was born September 26, 1820 in New York. The New York Census for the year 1830 lists an Anson CAREY in Chenango County. I am not sure if this is my great-great grandfather, but the best lead I have so far. Anson left New York and married Mary Ann HUFFMAN in Indiana. Have also seen her name as Marion HOFFMANN. Possibly he was married to a Polly Ann previous to Mary Ann? He settled in Chickasaw County, Iowa and had a rather large family. I know that my grandma remembered that the family was Methodist.

LuCinda Gustavson Tue May 1 12:00:16 2001
Jesse BLINCOE first appears in the Chenango county in the 1865 state census. He is listed in Guilford as age 39 (bp England) with his wife Susan M who is age 24 (bp Chenango). There are no children listed. He is mentioned again in the 1869-70 Guilford Business Directory- "BLINCO, Jesse, (Bainbridge) lot 66, farmer, 61 acres." In the 1870 census, he is listed in Guilford as age 38, (bp England). He is listed with his wife Susan who is 31 (bp NY). They have four people living with them: Ida, age 4; Henry age 3; Franklin, age 7 months; and Annie, age 78. All were born in NY except Annie who was born in England. This appears to be the same Annie who was living in Bainbridge with John (age 52, bp England) and Hannah BLANCO in the 1850 census. I am looking for a John BLENCO who married my ancestor, Mary McMILLIN CHARLES GREY on 16 May 1869 in Le Seuer county, Minnesota. Their marriage was witnessed by Thomas BENNETT. In the 1870 census, a Thomas BENNETT is listed in Waterville, Le Seuer county, MN, age 52, bp Ohio. I am not sure how all of this adds up, but if you have any questions, please e-mail me..

BLACKMAN - ALDRICH

Melissa Antos Sat Jun 2 19:10:01 2001
Can anyone tell me if they have been to the Heady's Corner Cemetery, also known as the Blackman Cemetery, in Plymouth Township, near Preston, NY? I am curious as to what type of condition it is in and if anyone is close by that is willing to take photographs of my ancestors graves and send them to me? All the BLACKMAN's in the cemetery are my ancestors, including my great-great-grandparents. The ALDRICH's married into our family. I am also curious as to the history and how the BLACKMAN name got associated with the cemetery.

Melissa Antos Wed Jun 6 20:49:04 2001
Is there anyone in the Chenango County area that researches newspapers for obituaries? I am interested in finding obits on my great-great-grandparents, Mary Ann BLACKMAN, died Feb. 13, 1868 and her husband George BLACKMAN, died Aug. 3, 1879. George remarried a woman named Euphemia THOMPSON, who I believe died in Wilson County, Kansas in the 1880's. She may have died under unusual circumstances and it is believed that her body may have been exhumed and returned to New York to her family at some point. I live in Kansas City and do not have access to the local newspapers.

De La MATYR

Phil Delamarter Thu Jun 7 12:43:07 2001
Would anyone have a more extensive history of Pharsalia other than what is posted on the Chenango County website? Would there be any records kept by the Methodist church? I am looking for information about a Henry De La MATYR, Methodist minister, in Pharsalia. He married Abigail HAMMOND, dtr. of John HAMMOND and was married in Pharsalia 8/9/1821. I am assuming since she was also a Methodist that they were married in the Methodist church.

They later moved to Allegehny County for several years, and then on to Wisconsin, Kansas, Nebraska, Nevada and California.
I would like to know who Henry' parents were. You may email me mr.d7@juno.com

GIBSON - BUNNELL

Dean Calbreath Mon Jun 18 16:57:21 2001
I am looking for information regarding the family of Joseph and Hannah GIBSON, who lived in Oxford in the 1840s-60s. Joseph's father and uncle, Thomas and Robert GIBSON, migrated to the area from England at about the time of the War of 1812. (Could they have been deserters or POWs?)
In addition, I'm looking for information on Charles BUNNELL, a Pennsylvania native who settled in Guilford in the 1840s. As far as I can tell, Charles had two daughters: Jane (who married a son of Joseph GIBSON) and Caroline Rosella. There may have also been another daughter, Maria, who was working as a maid for another family at the time.

BLOUNT / BLUNT

Daniel Powers Sat Jun 23 18:32:49 2001
I am looking on birth information for Frederick Fanning BLOUNT, born 6 Apr 1809; the DAR list his place of birth as German Flatts in Herkimer Co, but no records have been located there and no BLOUNTS appear there in the 1810 census.

Walter BLOUNT, Frederick's father, does appear in the 1810 census in German Twp, Chenango Co, however, and Walter's brother Elisha is listed among Chenango's Revolutionary War veterans. So I'm pretty certain that my BLOUNTs were in German Twp, Chenango Co, not German Flatts, Herkimer Co.

Walter BLOUNT's wife, Deborah Herrick BLOUNT died where Frederick was born, after 1811. I'm also looking for documentation for her death.

The family eventually relocated to Troy, MI. Any help with the birth of Frederick or the death of Deborah would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
