Several FOOTE families were early settlers in Smyrna. The best know family was headed by Isaac and Mary (KELLOGG) Foote (#247 in the Foote history), but there was also Samuel Foote #537. The 1810 census has an unidentified Luther Foote and a Calvin Foote in the 1820 census, who I believe was my ancestor. I'd be glad to exchange information on these two families

I am trying to identify the maiden name/parents of Chloe (--?--) GILMORE, wife of Lemuel GILMORE, both bu. Coventry Village cem. near Greene, Chenengo Co., NY. They were m. 20 Aug 1778, Raynham, MA by the Rev. M. Fobes. Lemuel GILMORE, b. 28 Apr 1756, Raynham, MA, d. 24 Nov 1826. Chloe d. 16 Jun 1849, age 89y, 4m [b. 27 Feb 1760]. Some have said that Chloe’s maiden name was COLE but I have never been able to verify this. Do any Chenango Co. records give her maiden name? Did she ever remarry? They had nine children, most of whom were apparently born in MA. It is probable that Lemuel & Chloe migrated from MA to Westmoreland, NH with their son Arba sometime before 1808. Arba moved to Coventry in 1818 and his parents apparently followed. Arba and others of the family are also bu. in the Coventry Village cem.

I am looking for information concerning the Howk family further back then my family geneologist currently has. The information I have is as follows:
Eli B. Howk born Feb 11 1811 in Germantown, Chenango Co., the Son of David Howk and Polly Bradley. David Howk was born March 20, 1786, married Feb 01 1810 to Polly Bradley who was born June 17 1789. David died April 03, 1851. Polly died March 17, 1871. Eli married Helen Ann Russel in 1833 in New York State. At some point, Eli moved to Wellington County, Ohio, after which the family history is clear. David's father's name was John Howk. The narrative of the family history earlier then this reads: The Howk family originally migrated from Germany near the Netherlands Border in the 1600's and settled on Staten Island, New York. The original family name was Van Howk or Van Huck or Van Hook or Van Huyk and was later changed to simply HOWK. (Houk was written on an old property deed but is most likely a misspelling) probably some time in the late 17th or early 18th century...I have been told that at the time the
family migrated from Germany they were titled people and well set up. The property belonging to them in New York was somehow cheated out of them and that was the reason for there migration further west. Any further information would be most deeply appreciated.
